![]() ![]() If nothing seems to work and you don't need any data recovered, I'd recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) and run both tests (Quick and Extended) to see if any errors or bad sectors pop-up. You could also test it with different USB ports if possible - 2.0 and 3.0 If that doesn't help, I'd suggest that you try the drive with a different USB cable (shorter than 12") and a different computer/device to see if it's properly recognized. Here's how to do that: How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP or 2000 slow transfer speed, freezes, etc.? Do you want to recover data from it?įirst I'd recommend that you open Disk Management to see if the HDD is recognized there and if it is - try to assign it a new letter in order to see if shows up in Windows Explorer ("Computer"). Is there any indication that the HDD is working when you connect it - do you hear it spin-up or vibrate? Do you hear any unusual sounds/noises coming from the drive? Have you had any issues with it before, e.g. Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. ![]()
